This River Necklace:
There is an amazing song by JJ Gray called “This River”. It became the inspiration for this piece. Usually River is used as a symbol of movement and fleetingness of Life, but at the same time there’s always a safe place on the banks. We all have our own demons that we fight on a daily basis – every single one of us. What JJ Gray said in an interview about his album and this particular song is so profound:
”I guess the idea is – how bad your life is depends on how bad you want it to be or how good you want it to be.”
I etched a part of the lyrics on a separate plate:
“… only this river
can save me, from myself
Where did my soul go? Where did my spirit hide?
Why won’t they rescue me from the pain in my mind?…”

To create the pendant I used a beautiful Australian Doublet Opal (which looks like a picture of a river) and rose cut faceted Aquamarine, all bezel set in sterling silver.
The pendant is 34x25mm, measured without the bail
The handcrafted large Chain is 21” long and can be easily adjusted to a shorter one because of the hook clasp.
